Paying for India App Store subscriptions with gift cards
How INR Apple Gift Cards fund App Store and iCloud+ subscriptions in India, how RBI e-mandate rules affect card renewals, and today’s prices by channel.
Why gift-card balance matters in India
Recurring card payments in India run under the Reserve Bank of India’s e-mandate framework: the first charge needs authentication, and renewals above ₹15,000 need an extra confirmation from the cardholder.
Apple’s payment-methods page lists, for India: Apple Account balance (from redeeming App Store Card or adding funds), Mastercard, Net Banking (adding funds only), UPI and Visa. A balance funded with an App Store Card is used for App Store purchases and subscriptions, so it doesn’t depend on a card mandate.
Buying and redeeming INR gift cards
- Buy an Apple Gift Card sold for India (INR). Cards are region-locked and only redeem on an India storefront.
- On iPhone, open the App Store, tap your profile picture, then Redeem Gift Card or Code.
- Check the balance under your profile. Subscriptions and iCloud+ renew from it automatically while it covers the price.
