How to pay for a Turkish Apple Account

Payment methods Apple lists for the Türkiye App Store, how TRY gift cards and balance work, today’s prices, and what Apple requires before a region change.

What the Türkiye storefront accepts

An Apple Account set to Türkiye is billed in Turkish lira (TRY). Apple’s payment-methods page lists, for Türkiye: Apple Account balance (from redeeming App Store & iTunes Gift Cards or adding funds), mobile phone billing (Paycell, Türk Telekom Mobil Ödeme, Vodafone Mobil Ödeme) and most credit and debit cards. When you change an account’s country, Apple may ask for a payment method for the new country.

Gift cards redeem to the Apple Account balance, which Apple uses for purchases and subscriptions. Gift cards are country-specific: a card bought for Türkiye redeems only on a Türkiye account. The panel below shows what Apple and Google list for Türkiye, and the prices one reseller asked for TRY cards when we last checked.

Today’s Türkiye App Store prices

App Store prices are set per storefront in local currency, so the USD equivalent moves with the exchange rate until the price itself changes. Taxes included in Turkish prices

Turkish App Store prices include 20% KDV (VAT), so nothing is added at checkout. Our landed-cost column for Türkiye equals the list price, adjusted only by the reseller premium or discount we observed for TRY gift cards, which is shown in the gift-card panel above.

Before you change an account to Türkiye

Read the terms first. Apple’s and Google’s store terms tie an account’s country to where you live, and both can ask for a payment method or address there. This guide is written for residents, people who have moved, and anyone checking prices; it does not explain how to misrepresent where you live.

Apple’s help page lists what has to be cleared before a country change:

  1. 1Apple: spend any remaining Apple Account balance and cancel subscriptions that block a country change, then wait for them to end. Memberships, pre-orders, rentals and pending refunds must clear too.
  2. 2Apple: Family Sharing members might not be able to change country or region.
  3. 3iOS: Settings › [your name] › Media & Purchases › View Account › Country/Region › Turkey. Apple may ask for a payment method for Turkey.
  4. 4Google Play: a new country needs you to be in that country with a payment method from it; changes are limited to one every 90 days and are not possible for Google Family group members.
  5. 5Google Play: balance stays with the old country, and existing subscriptions keep billing the old payment profile until cancelled.
